SHREVEPORT, La. — In a remarkable performance during the Independence Bowl, Bryson Daily shattered the record for the most touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season at the FBS level, finishing with 32 touchdowns. His effort fueled No. 19 Army to a commanding 27-6 win against Louisiana Tech on Saturday evening.

Daily’s contribution included 127 yards on 27 carries, and he completed 2 of his 9 passes, adding another 65 yards through the air. This victory marks Army’s program record of 12 wins against just 2 losses this season and surpasses the previous record held by Navy’s Keenan Reynolds from 2013.

Reflecting on the incredible season, Daily expressed his pride in the senior class, stating, “I’m really proud of this senior class, the way we came together to have this season. To have two six-win seasons in a row, to turn it around and get 12, just extremely proud of the guys.”

In addition to Daily’s achievements, teammate Hayden Reed contributed significantly with 114 rushing yards and a touchdown from 20 carries.

Army entered the matchup leading the nation with an impressive average of 298.9 rushing yards per game, showcasing their strength against the Bulldogs, who stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Sun Belt champion Marshall.

“They responded from a very emotional and difficult loss (to Navy) two weeks ago with a great effort,” commented Army head coach Jeff Monken, who was pleased with the way his team bounced back.

During the second quarter, Army executed a record-setting 21-play drive that spanned 75 yards, culminating in an 8-yard rushing touchdown by Daily, which pushed their lead to 21-3. The meticulously crafted drive featured two successful third-down conversions as well as three fourth-down conversions.

“It felt like we were out there forever,” Reed remarked about the lengthy drive.

For Louisiana Tech, Drew Henderson successfully kicked field goals from 27 and 44 yards. Tru Edwards, who recently entered the transfer portal, stood out with eight receptions for 92 yards.

Key Points:
Army: This game allowed the Black Knights to shed some of the disappointment from their prior loss to Navy.
Louisiana Tech: Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Bulldogs brought in a new offensive coordinator, Tony Franklin.
