In a social media post that appeared to be meant as a private message to Elon Musk, President-elect Donald Trump revealed on Friday that Microsoft founder Bill Gates had expressed interest in meeting with him.

“Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago. Bill Gates asked to come, tonight. We miss you and x! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!! DJT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, seemingly referencing Musk’s son, X Æ A-Xii.

Gates Requests Meeting Amid Transition Talks

According to a source familiar with the situation, Gates has reached out to Trump’s transition team about a possible meeting, though it’s unclear if the two will connect. Trump has been hosting tech CEOs and business leaders at Mar-a-Lago since his November election victory, making Gates the latest name in a lineup of high-profile visitors.

CNN reached out to Gates for comment but has not received a response.

Musk Under the Spotlight

The post also brings Musk back into focus, as he serves as co-leader of Trump’s government efficiency initiative. Musk has recently faced criticism from Trump supporters over his backing of visa programs for highly skilled foreign workers. Despite the controversy, Trump’s casual mention of Musk and his son suggests their professional relationship remains amicable.

Tech Leaders Strategize for Trump Era

Trump’s meetings with tech giants and CEOs have become a hallmark of his transition period. Many executives are using these opportunities to discuss policies they believe align with Trump’s priorities, such as boosting U.S. manufacturing and job creation, while subtly addressing concerns about his administration’s potential policies.

Gates and Trump previously met in December 2016 during Trump’s first transition to the presidency, and this potential second meeting underscores the ongoing efforts by corporate leaders to secure favorable relationships with the incoming administration.

As Trump prepares for a high-profile New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago, all eyes are on whether Gates will join the growing list of influential figures shaping Trump’s vision for his presidency.
