Bad Bunny has just spread some holiday cheer by announcing the release of his new album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” set to drop on January 5. This marks the sixth studio album for the popular Puerto Rican artist, who is known for unveiling new music on unexpected dates. In the past, he surprised fans with his debut album, “X 100PRE,” which was released around Christmas in 2018, and the provocative “El Último Tour del Mundo” just before Thanksgiving in 2020. The upcoming January release coincides with “Día de Reyes,” or Three Kings Day, and notably falls on a Sunday, differing from the conventional Friday launch that is commonplace in the music industry.
The news was announced through a brief video on Instagram that featured filmmaker Jacobo Morales. Alongside the album announcement, Bad Bunny also dropped a new single titled “PIToRRO DE COCO.” Just a day earlier, he gave fans a sneak peek of the album with a 17-track list shared on social media, where every song is intriguingly named “BOMBA,” potentially paying homage to the lively Puerto Rican musical style and dance.
“Debí Tirar Más Fotos” follows up his earlier 2023 work, “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana” (“Nobody Knows What Will Happen Tomorrow”), which received a mixed response from critics. In that album, Bad Bunny largely stepped away from reggaeton, opting instead to revisit the Latin trap sounds reminiscent of his groundbreaking “X 100PRE” album, with tracks like “MONACO” and “GRACIAS POR NADA.”
This album announcement rounds off a hectic year for Bad Bunny, also known as El Conejo Malo. The artist made headlines earlier this year when he voiced his support for Vice President Kamala Harris shortly after a comedian at a Donald Trump rally made derogatory remarks about Latinos and disparaged Puerto Rico. Additionally, he completed an extensive North American tour named the “Most Wanted Tour,” which was included in the year’s best concert list compiled by notable media outlets.
