Mahomes Throws 2 TDs Before Exiting with Injury in Chiefs’ 21-7 Win Over Browns
Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes before leaving in the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cleveland Browns 21-7 on Sunday. The Chiefs (13-1) built an early lead and cruised to victory, capitalizing on six Cleveland turnovers.
Chiefs Dominate Early, Struggle Late
Mahomes connected with JuJu Smith-Schuster for a 7-yard TD in the first quarter, taking advantage of a Cleveland fumble on a punt return. Later, he found Noah Gray for a 6-yard score in the second quarter to make it 14-0. Xavier Worthy added a rushing touchdown early in the third, following an interception by Browns quarterback Jameis Winston, to extend the Chiefs’ lead to 21-0.
The second half was less polished, with Kansas City’s offense stalling. Mahomes exited with 5:23 remaining after injuring his ankle, finishing 19 of 38 for 159 yards. Carson Wentz replaced him to close out the game.
Turnovers Doom the Browns
The Browns (3-11) struggled offensively despite a 62-yard touchdown run by Jerome Ford. Jameis Winston threw three interceptions, including two in the end zone, giving him eight over his last three games. He was benched after his third pick in favor of Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who also threw an interception.
Cleveland’s Jerry Jeudy was a bright spot, catching 11 passes for 108 yards to surpass 1,000 yards for the season. However, the Browns’ six turnovers overshadowed any positives.
