Suns secure victory but miss NBA Cup wild-card spot

Devin Booker scored 29 points and reached 15,000 career points as the Phoenix Suns defeated the San Antonio Spurs 104-93 on Tuesday night. However, the victory was bittersweet as the Suns were eliminated from NBA Cup contention following Dallas’ win over Memphis.

Durant exits early with an ankle injury

Kevin Durant left the game with 3:51 remaining in the second quarter due to an ankle injury and did not return. The Suns reported that Durant left under his own power, but no additional details about the injury were provided. Before his exit, Durant contributed 13 points.

Booker achieves milestone

Booker, now trailing only Walter Davis (15,666) on Phoenix’s all-time scoring list, surpassed the 15,000 career point mark with his first basket of the game. His strong performance helped the Suns secure their 12th win of the season.

Wembanyama struggles early but finishes strong

San Antonio rookie Victor Wembanyama had a tough first half, missing all seven of his shots, including six from beyond the arc. However, he bounced back in the second half, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 25 points off the bench, while Stephon Castle added 16. For the Suns, Tyus Jones scored 16 points, with Royce O’Neale and Bradley Beal contributing 10 each.

Despite the win, Phoenix’s NBA Cup hopes ended as Oklahoma City secured West Group B and Dallas clinched the wild-card spot. The Suns now shift their focus to maintaining momentum in the regular season as they await further updates on Durant’s injury.
