Former quarterback of the New York Giants, Daniel Jones, is set to join the Minnesota Vikings, as confirmed by a source familiar with the situation on Wednesday.
Jones will be added to the Vikings’ practice squad shortly after being released by the Giants, where he was the sixth overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft. The official agreement, however, is still pending finalization, according to the source who chose to remain anonymous.
The Vikings, currently enjoying a successful season with a 9-2 record, have found success with quarterback Sam Darnold at the helm. In addition to Jones, the team’s quarterback lineup includes Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien. It’s worth noting that rookie J.J. McCarthy, a first-round draft choice, has undergone two significant knee surgeries this season, sidelining him for the remainder of the year.
During his time with the Giants, Jones held a starting record of 24 wins, 44 losses, and 1 tie. He enjoyed his peak performance during the 2022 season, leading the Giants to a 9-7-1 finish and culminating in a playoff victory against the Vikings.
