The New York Jets have part ways with general manager Joe Douglas, as confirmed by a source close to the matter on Tuesday.
Douglas was in the last year of his contract after taking the position in 2019. Currently, the Jets are experiencing a disappointing 3-8 season, which began with high hopes for a Super Bowl run, bolstered by a fully fit Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.
However, the team’s performance faltered early, leading to a 2-3 record before owner Woody Johnson made the decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh on October 8.

The decision to also let Douglas go was reportedly made on the same day, with the source speaking on the condition of anonymity since the team has yet to officially announce the firing. SNY was the first outlet to report Douglas’s dismissal.
Throughout his time as general manager, Douglas compiled a record of 30 wins against 64 losses with the Jets, resulting in a challenging legacy in his stint.
The organization now faces a period of reevaluation and restructuring as it looks to improve in the future.
