Trevor Etienne, the leading running back for the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs, has been officially declared out for the upcoming game against No. 6 Tennessee due to a rib injury.
Etienne sustained this injury during the Bulldogs’ victory over Florida on November 2 but managed to get some playing time in the recent 28-10 loss against Ole Miss, where he had 34 yards from nine carries.
Initially considered questionable for this critical matchup against the Volunteers, his status was confirmed as out following the injury report submitted by Georgia to the Southeastern Conference on Thursday evening.
In his first year with the Bulldogs after transferring from Florida, Etienne has excelled, leading the team with 477 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging 5.0 yards per carry.
With Etienne sidelined, the team’s only running back with significant gameplay experience available against Tennessee is freshman Nate Frazier, who has accumulated 333 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.
Cash Jones is currently listed as questionable, while teammates Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson will not participate in the game.
Tennessee is also dealing with injury issues, as quarterback Nico Iamaleava remains under concussion protocol and continues to be marked as questionable on their injury report.
