WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — On Thursday, Donald Trump welcomed Argentine President Javier Milei to his Mar-a-Lago estate, making Milei the first international leader to meet with the president-elect following his recent electoral victory.
The details of the meeting were shared by a source who requested to remain unnamed, as it had not been publicly disclosed at the time. Reports suggest that the discussions were positive, and Milei also had the opportunity to engage with investors during his visit.
After his discussion with Trump, Milei, who identifies as an “anarcho-capitalist” and is known for frequently receiving endorsements from Trump, spoke at the America First Policy Institute gala held at Mar-a-Lago. During his address, he criticized leftist agendas and praised Elon Musk, the proprietor of the platform X, for what he described as contributions toward “saving humanity.”
In a show of support shortly after Milei’s election win in November 2023, Trump took to social media, proclaiming, “You will turn your country around and truly Make Argentina Great Again!”
Milei’s initial introduction to Trump occurred in February at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held near Washington, D.C. He is vocal about his admiration for Trump, and upon meeting him, he exuberantly called out “president!” while rushing to embrace Trump, after which they posed for photos together.
Known for his distinctive and outlandish personality, Milei gained prominence by vocally opposing Argentina’s “political caste” on television. The right-wing populist leader ran his campaign using a chainsaw as a symbol of his commitment to cutting public spending and eliminating government ministries.
