Kyiv experiences its first combined drone and missile assault from Russia in several months

KYIV, Ukraine – For the first time in 73 days, Kyiv experienced a coordinated missile and drone attack from Russia early on Wednesday morning, with officials currently assessing the extent of the damage.

Air raid alerts were issued for several hours, during which Serhii Popko, the head of the Kyiv City military administration, reported that defense forces successfully intercepted multiple cruise and ballistic missiles as well as nearly a dozen drones.

While evaluations of the damage are still ongoing, previous patterns of such assaults suggest they are designed to breach air defenses and inflict maximum destruction.

Emergency services reported that a 48-year-old man sustained head injuries in the Brovary district of Kyiv. Furthermore, Kyiv Governor Ruslan Kravchenko indicated that debris from the attack led to a fire in a warehouse.

In response to the shelling and ongoing issues with power generation deficits, Popko announced that there would be restrictions on daytime electricity supply for businesses and industries throughout Kyiv.
