The driver of the garbage truck that former President Donald Trump hopped aboard on Wednesday is sharing the story behind the viral moment in an interview, reports the New York Post.
Andrew Brisson, of Norway, Michigan, told Fox News’ The Story that he was enjoying lunch when he received an unexpected call from the family-owned LoadMaster garbage service. “At first, I didn’t believe it until I picked up the phone and talked to the guy myself,” Brisson recounted to host Martha MacCallum. “After a quick conversation, he mentioned he knew someone I knew in the industry. I went to our lot, picked out a nice-looking truck, and headed down to Green Bay.”
Trump Hops in the Driver’s Seat
Brisson drove the truck, decked out in Trump and “Make America Great Again” decals, to the rally at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport. When Trump arrived, he jumped aboard Brisson’s truck, sporting an orange workman’s vest, to the delight of the crowd. Brisson explained that while he didn’t have much time to chat with Trump, the former president did shake his hand and greet him warmly.
Then, Trump surprised Brisson with a request that sent Secret Service agents into a frenzy: a quick ride-along in the garbage truck. “I started up the truck, blew the air horn, and Trump looked over at me and said, ‘Can you take me for a ride in this thing?’” Brisson laughed. “So, I released the park brake and inched forward a bit. But after a foot or two, the Secret Service gave me a look and waved their hands—ending the ride.”
Trump’s Trash Talk: A Message for Biden
Trump’s garbage truck cameo served as a jab at President Biden’s recent comments about Trump supporters, which Biden reportedly referred to as “garbage.” Leaning out the truck window, Trump asked, “How do you like my garbage truck? This is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”
The garbage truck appearance followed a controversial moment from a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe joked about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage.” When asked about the incident, Trump distanced himself from the comedian’s remarks, saying, “I don’t know anything about the comedian. He’s a comedian—what can I tell you?”
As Brisson’s story goes viral, the unexpected ride has become another talking point in Trump’s unconventional campaign, with supporters and critics alike weighing in on the spectacle.
