The 2024 election is seeing a record-setting gender gap, with Harris now leading among women by 12 points (55% to 43%) while Trump holds a 11-point lead among men (54% to 45%).

This gap not only narrows the race but underscores larger social divides, particularly on issues like gender equality, reports CBS.

Perceptions of Candidates: Cognitive Health vs. Leadership Strength

When it comes to candidate perception, 62% of women believe only Harris has the cognitive health to serve effectively, while 57% of men view Trump as the stronger leader. These differing views have become defining factors in the tight race, influencing voters’ choices based on their assessments of leadership and capability.

Views on Gender Equality Shape Voter Choices

Diverging views on gender equality efforts further illustrate the split. Among men who believe equality initiatives have “gone too far,” 72% are backing Trump. Conversely, 68% of women who feel these efforts haven’t gone far enough are voting for Harris. With Election Day looming, these stark divisions underscore a close race that could hinge on this gender divide.
