Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is on the mend after suffering two gunshot wounds when he and another man were attacked following a night out at a Denver strip club last week.

“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the Broncos said in a statement to The Associated Press. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

Arrests Made in Connection with the Shooting

Denver police reported the arrest of two men, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, in connection with the October 18 shooting, which occurred around 3 a.m. along Interstate 25, just south of downtown Denver. Both men are being investigated for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Police have not ruled out the involvement of additional suspects and have kept arrest reports sealed to protect the investigation’s integrity.

Details of the Incident: Shots Fired After Leaving Strip Club

NBC affiliate KUSA-TV, Denver’s Broncos flagship station, first reported that Reynolds sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm and another to the back of his head. The station added that Reynolds and his companion were allegedly followed after leaving a strip club called Shotgun Willies, leading to the shooting.

Reynolds Was Already on Injured Reserve

Reynolds, currently on injured reserve due to a broken finger, didn’t travel with the Broncos to their game against the New Orleans Saints on October 17. The shooting happened only a few hours after the Broncos’ win. Despite his injuries, Reynolds has been seen working out on a side field during team practices this week, though players on IR aren’t available to speak with the media.

Reynolds’ Career and First Season with Denver

Now in his ninth NFL season, Reynolds joined the Broncos this year, signing a two-year, $9 million contract. He has appeared in five games, including one start, and recorded 12 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. Before Denver, Reynolds spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions and previously played for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.
