Harris struggles in NBC interview, claims she was ‘honest’ about Biden’s mental acuity

In an interview with NBC News’ Hallie Jackson, Vice President Kamala Harris was questioned about whether she had been transparent with the American public regarding President Joe Biden’s mental decline. The discussion followed Harris’ role as a strong supporter of Biden during his campaign, even after his difficult performance at a CNN presidential debate.

Jackson asked, “Can you say that you were honest with the American people about what you saw in those moments with President Biden, as you were with him again and again repeatedly in that time?”

Harris responded confidently, “Of course. Joe Biden is extremely accomplished, experienced, and capable in every way that anyone would want if they’re president.”

Pressed on Debate Performance

Jackson followed up by asking whether Harris had ever seen signs of Biden’s debate struggles behind closed doors. Harris acknowledged the poor debate performance, stating, “It was a bad debate. People have bad debates.”

When Jackson pointed out that Biden’s debate performance may have contributed to his decision to step aside, Harris replied, “Well, you’d have to ask him if that’s the only reason why.”

Shifting to Her Own Campaign

Jackson pressed further, asking for Harris’ judgment on the matter. Harris emphasized her focus on her own campaign, saying, “I’m running for President of the United States. Joe Biden is not. And my presidency will be about bringing a new generation of leadership to America.”

The interview concluded with Harris affirming her confidence in Biden’s abilities, explaining that her firsthand experience working with him over the last four years made her certain that he is fully capable. “I have no reluctance in saying that,” Harris stated firmly.
