Billionaire Mark Cuban declares: “It’s Harris vs. Elon, not Trump” in 2024 election

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban recently stated that Vice President Kamala Harris is not just campaigning against former President Donald Trump, but also against Elon Musk. During an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Monday, Cuban advocated for Harris as the pro-business candidate, suggesting that Musk has become a more significant opponent than Trump.

“It’s Harris vs. Elon, Not Trump”

“It’s the Harris campaign versus Elon, not even versus Trump,” Cuban declared, taking a dig at Musk’s growing influence in the 2024 race. Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, has been making headlines with his promise to give away $1 million per day through a swing-state voter sweepstakes. While Cuban labeled the move “innovative,” he also described it as “desperate.”

Despite the tension, Cuban later predicted that Harris could “100%” mend her relationship with Musk if she wins the election. His comments highlight the increasingly personal battle between the two billionaires, who have both taken on more prominent roles in the election while trading jabs in public.

Musk vs. Cuban: The Feud Heats Up

The rivalry between Musk and Cuban escalated after Musk, who has donated tens of millions to a pro-Trump Super PAC, mocked Cuban’s appearance. This came after Cuban remarked that few other CEOs were backing Trump’s campaign. Cuban responded on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You can’t stop thinking about me @elonmusk Can you?”

In a sharp retort, Cuban added, “If I supported a candidate that was so incompetent I had to take over and fund their ground game, I would be looking for a distraction too.” The feud, which started as political opposition, has now evolved into a very public and personal back-and-forth between the two business titans.

Musk’s Role in the Trump Campaign

Elon Musk has emerged as one of Donald Trump’s most prominent supporters, taking a lead role in voter mobilization efforts, particularly in the key swing state of Pennsylvania. Between July and early September, Musk has funneled nearly $75 million into his America PAC, significantly boosting Trump’s campaign.

In return, Trump has frequently touted Musk’s support, even hinting that the tech mogul could play a substantial role in his administration if he secures another term in the White House. Musk, embracing his status as one of Trump’s top backers, has made it clear that he is all-in on the former president’s reelection bid.

The Election: Polls Show a Tight Race

When asked about the state of the race, with polls showing a tight contest between Harris and Trump, Cuban acknowledged the uncertainty. “Nobody really knows, and so really it comes down to get-out-the-vote efforts,” Cuban said. He reiterated that the real competition seems to be between Harris and Musk, given Musk’s influence on the election and his massive financial support for Trump’s campaign.

As the 2024 election draws nearer, the battle between Harris, Trump, and now Musk continues to unfold, with personal rivalries and massive financial contributions shaping the race.
