New York City is grappling with a concerning trend of escalating violence against NYPD police officers. Statistics reveal a significant increase in assaults on officers, with over 4,000 incidents with injured cops recorded during the first nine months of 2023.

Projections are indicating a further rise to approximately 5,400 for the whole year.

Patrick Hendry, President of the Police Benevolent Association, characterizes the situation as a ‘full-blown epidemic,’ he told the New York Post, emphasizing the urgent need for consistent prosecution and detention of individuals attacking law enforcement.

The challenges posed by illegal migration further exacerbate the situation, with tens of thousands of migrants arriving in New York City, straining resources and contributing to societal tensions. Despite substantial financial commitments from city and state authorities, effective measures to address the influx of migrants and associated violence remain elusive.

Incidents of hostility towards law enforcement officers have become increasingly publicized, including deliberate vehicular assaults, slashings, and physical assaults on officers.

Police officers were just attacked in Times Square by a group of migrants, who were initially arrested but released after court arraignments.

This exact practice is a matter of heated debates in New York and other large US cities, as critics point to an increase in crime since law-breaking goes increasingly unpunished.

In the discussion about the worrying and shocking trend, deadly mayhem broke out in the New York City subway – again.

A horrific scene unfolded at a Bronx subway station during rush hour on Monday afternoon, according to statements from police and law enforcement sources. One victim died as a result of the deadly violence. Five other people have suffered injuries as bullets flew, including two teenagers.

Witnesses and sources reported that as many as 10 shots were fired at the Mount Eden Avenue station following a dispute that began aboard a northbound 4 train around 4:40 p.m., causing widespread chaos. Witnesses described the scene as “total pandemonium,” according to the New York Post

The deceased victim, a 35-year-old man, was confirmed by police, although his identity was withheld pending notification of his family. Additionally, a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, a 29-year-old woman, and two men aged 71 and 28 were wounded in the shooting, all of whom were hospitalized in stable condition.

Police is looking for those two armed men

Police sources suggested the possibility of two shooters involved in the altercation, which started on the train and escalated onto the platform, resulting in gunfire. It is unknown how the feud started. Authorities are actively seeking two potential suspects connected to the incident. The NYPD has published photos of the suspects.
