Tori Amos, the acclaimed Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, is venturing into the world of children’s literature with her debut book aimed at inspiring young readers.
Entitled “Tori and the Muses,” the book is set for release on March 4 and will be published under Penguin Random House’s Penguin Workshop imprint.
The story, illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, revolves around a young girl who is accompanied by 11 secret muses, guiding her through a world filled with artistic possibilities and inspiration.
Amos expressed her desire to create an engaging narrative that encourages children to look beyond the screen-dominated landscape of modern life.
She stated, “In this age where children’s imaginations can be overshadowed by small screens, I wanted to provide a refreshing perspective that highlights the inspiration and magic that surrounds all of us.”
Reflecting on her own experiences, Amos shared how the concept of muses allowed her to transcend the restrictive limitations she faced, granting her a sanctuary to create without fear of criticism.
The musician believes that these muses can be discovered by anyone willing to seek them out.
At 61 years old, Tori Amos is well-regarded for her powerful songs, including hits like “Spark,” “Professional Widow,” and “A Sorta Fairytale.”
In addition to her musical achievements, she has authored previous works including “Piece by Piece” and “Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage,” showcasing her versatility as an artist.
