Shohei Ohtani has once again dominated Major League Baseball jersey sales for the second consecutive season, solidifying his popularity among fans. Not only did Ohtani lead in jersey sales, but he also made history by becoming the first player ever to achieve 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season. This remarkable feat further solidifies his position as a standout athlete in the league.
According to Major League Baseball and MLB Players Inc., Ohtani was closely followed in jersey sales by Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Aaron Judge from the New York Yankees, and Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers. This top four lineup remains the same as the one announced during the All-Star break. In 2022, Ohtani was ranked seventh in jersey sales, with Betts taking the top spot.
Fransisco Lindor of the New York Mets rose two spots to claim the fifth position in jersey sales, displacing injured Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. and the Yankees’ Juan Soto by one spot each. Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros moved up two spots to eighth place, while Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres fell to ninth. Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals ascended to the tenth spot.
Corey Seager from the Texas Rangers dropped two spots to 11th, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays moved up two places to take the 12th spot. Trea Turner of the Philidelphia Phillies held onto the 13th spot, while Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds moved one place up to 14th, and Pete Alonso of the Mets dropped three places to 15th.
Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres climbed two spots to 16th, Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians entered the top 20 at 17th, and Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers rose two spots to 18th. Dodgers’ pitcher Clayton Kershaw made his appearance on the list at 19th after returning to the field on July 25th following shoulder surgery. Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles fell four spots to round off the top 20.
