Melania Trump Describes Husband’s Escapes from Assassination Attempts as ‘Miracles’

In her first interview in over two years, former First Lady Melania Trump opened up about her husband’s survival during two assassination attempts, describing them as “miracles” and unveiled new information about the former president, including his desire to expand their family. Melania, a former fashion model from Slovenia, has maintained a relatively enigmatic presence during the 2024 election cycle, shying away from the campaign trail and opting not to speak at events like the Republican National Convention. She also chose to skip significant moments for her husband, such as primary-night victory parties and court appearances in New York and Florida.

During a pre-recorded interview on Fox News, Melania Trump urged Democrats and members of the media to refrain from labeling her husband as a threat to democracy. She criticized the media for creating a “toxic atmosphere” and empowering individuals who wish to harm him. In response to accusations against Trump for violent rhetoric, including allegations of inciting the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, Melania expressed, “This is not normal.” She pushed back against the characterization of her husband and called for a halt to such actions.

Reflecting on the attempts on her husband’s life, Melania mentioned being alerted to a shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and learning about a second assassination attempt at his Florida golf course while in New York. She described the incidents as fortunate escapes, attributing his survival to something watching over him and suggesting that the country truly needs him.

Melania Trump is gearing up for the release of her upcoming memoir, set to debut on Oct. 8. When asked about potential plans to expand their family, she disclosed her husband’s desire for more children despite her contentment with one. Melania described their busy lives and her responsibilities, which influenced her decision to stick with one child. She also highlighted her background in the fashion industry, crediting it with providing her the resilience to handle the intense scrutiny as the wife of a polarizing political figure.

Speaking about her son, Barron Trump, Melania mentioned his decision to reside in their New York home while attending New York University. She respected his choice and clarified that she does not consider herself an empty nester as Barron pursues his education and resides in their New York residence. Melania attributed her ability to endure criticisms and judgments to her experiences in the fashion world, which taught her resilience and the importance of a thick skin in navigating challenging environments.
