Sen. Raphael Warnock from Georgia has started writing a children’s book that revolves around a boy who is generous and a sandwich that multiplies miraculously. The book is inspired by a story from the Bible that tells how Jesus and his disciples managed to feed 5,000 people using only five loaves of bread and two fish. Philomel Books, which is an imprint of Penguin Random House, recently announced that they will be publishing the book titled “We’re in This Together: Leo’s Lunchbox” on April 25 next year. The book will feature illustrations by TeMika Grooms.

In a statement, Warnock, who is a Democrat representing Georgia, mentioned that “Leo’s Lunchbox” aims to highlight the importance and potential of communities joining forces to take care of each other. He expressed his hope that this story, influenced by a cherished lesson from the Bible, will encourage young readers to practice kindness towards others and be open to receiving help from those around them. Apart from this upcoming children’s book, Warnock, who is also a Baptist pastor, has previously authored books such as “The Divided Mind of the Black Church” and “A Way Out of No Way.”
