Liverpool leads Premier League as Diaz scores twice and Newcastle falls to Fulham

In Liverpool, Luis Díaz showcased his talent by scoring two impressive goals within two minutes, leading his team to a 3-0 victory against Bournemouth. With these crucial goals, Liverpool climbed to the top of the English Premier League. Díaz not only demonstrated his exceptional finishing skills but also helped secure the win at Anfield on a day where Mohamed Salah had a quieter performance in front of the goal. The victory put Arne Slot’s side ahead of Manchester City, who now only trail by goal difference as they prepare to face Arsenal in a significant match on Sunday.

Díaz’s first goal came in the 28th minute when he skillfully controlled a long pass from Ibrahima Konaté, maneuvered past the goalkeeper Kepa, and slotted the ball into the net with his right foot. Shortly after, in the 30th minute, he scored his second goal with his left foot after a precise pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold inside the penalty area.

Meanwhile, Newcastle missed the opportunity to claim the top spot in the league after losing 3-1 to Fulham. Fulham took an early lead through Raúl Jiménez and extended it with a goal from Emile Smith Rowe. Although Harvey Barnes pulled one back for Newcastle, Reiss Nelson sealed the victory for Fulham in stoppage time.

Aston Villa staged a comeback against Wolverhampton, with Ollie Watkins playing a pivotal role in their 3-1 win. Watkins leveled the score in the 73rd minute before Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran secured the victory late in the match.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson celebrated his 50th club appearance by scoring two early goals in a 3-0 win against West Ham, while Tottenham rallied to beat Brentford 3-1 after initially falling behind. Manchester United’s missed opportunities resulted in a goalless draw against Crystal Palace, leaving them in 11th place in the standings.

Southampton was denied its first win when Ipswich scored in injury time to draw 1-1, while Everton once again failed to protect a lead and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Leicester. The game was briefly delayed due to heavy rain.

The English Premier League continues to deliver intense matches and unexpected outcomes as teams battle for the top positions in the standings.
