In Panthersville, Georgia, a tragic incident unfolded last week when two individuals were found deceased inside a burned residence. The victims, Brittany R. Hall, 28, and Derris D. Woods, 35, were both determined to have been shot prior to the fire that engulfed the house, according to officials from the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office. While the cause of death has not been specified, the investigation into this case is ongoing.
DeKalb County Fire spokesperson Capt. Jaeson Daniels confirmed that both Hall and Woods had gunshot wounds, but did not elaborate further on the details. The origins of the fire that destroyed the home are still being looked into. Firefighters were alerted to the blaze near Panthersville, an unincorporated area in the county, in the early hours of Sept. 9, around 1:30 a.m. The intensity of the flames prevented immediate access to the building, which eventually collapsed partially during the firefighting efforts.
