The governor stated that the suspect is believed to have violated state laws in connection to the incident.
The decision to launch this state-wide probe comes shortly after Ryan Routh was formally charged with federal firearms offenses. Officials clarified that Routh did not discharge any firearm, never had a clear line of sight to Trump, and promptly fled the scene after an agent fired in his direction. The suspect was apprehended in a nearby county following the incident.
