In a hard-fought game on Sunday night, the Houston Texans managed to secure a 19-13 victory over the Chicago Bears. Despite facing offensive challenges in the second half, Houston’s defense proved to be the deciding factor with crucial interceptions of rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
Texans’ coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized the importance of winning one week at a time and praised his team for finding a way to secure the win, even when things got tough towards the end of the game.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud contributed with 260 passing yards and a touchdown, while Ka’imi Fairbairn’s four field goals from distances of 56, 47, 59, and 53 yards played a significant role in Houston’s success.
The Texans’ defense, led by players like Will Anderson Jr. who had 1 1/2 sacks, continuously pressured Williams, sacking him seven times throughout the game.
Houston’s offensive highlights included Stroud’s 28-yard touchdown pass to Nico Collins and Collins’ impressive 135 receiving yards, marking his second consecutive 100-yard game.
The Bears, led by the first overall draft pick Williams, struggled offensively, managing only 174 passing yards as Williams was constantly under pressure from Houston’s defense.
With the win, Houston improved to a 2-0 record while the Bears fell to 1-1. The Texans’ next challenge will be against the Vikings, whereas the Bears will face the Colts in their upcoming games.

In terms of injuries, Bears’ DL Zacch Pickens left the game due to a groin injury, while WR Keenan Allen was inactive with a heel injury.
Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn’s exceptional performance was highlighted, becoming the first player in NFL history to achieve five or more field goals of at least 50 yards in a two-game span, greatly contributing to the Texans’ recent successes.
Looking ahead, the Bears are scheduled to visit Indianapolis, while the Texans will go on the road to face the Vikings in their next matchups.
