Jon Rahm clinches victory in LIV Golf event and secures $18 million season points bonus

Jon Rahm wrapped up his debut season in the LIV Golf League in style with a 4-under 66 to clinch victory in the final individual event at Bolingbrook Golf Course. His impressive performance secured him the season points title along with the lucrative $18 million bonus that comes with it. Despite missing a couple of short birdie opportunities on the back nine, Rahm’s 12-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole gave him a comfortable three-shot lead heading into the final hole.
This win marked Rahm’s second victory in the Saudi-funded league, following his triumph in England the previous month. The only real threat to his season title hopes came from Joaquin Niemann, another formidable player on the tour. Niemann managed to stay within striking distance but ultimately finished tied for second alongside Sergio Garcia after Rahm’s strong finish.
Expressing his joy after the win, Rahm highlighted his nerves leading up to the event and his satisfaction with a bogey-free weekend. He credited his critical putt on the 17th for making the final hole much easier. The team title went to the Crushers, who will now advance to the team championship in Dallas to close out the season.
Rahm’s victory, which saw him finish at 11-under 199, earned him $4 million from the tournament and the substantial $18 million bonus for topping the season standings. Despite facing setbacks like a toe infection that forced him to withdraw from a previous event, Rahm’s performance remained consistently strong throughout the season, with top-10 finishes in every completed LIV event.
The tournament also had implications for other players, with Lucas Herbert securing a spot in next year’s LIV Golf League by finishing tied for sixth. Kalle Samooja narrowly avoided relegation by making it into the top 48, although a late stumble means he will have to navigate a qualifying event to secure his place back in the league.
