Jordan Love of the Packers sidelined against Colts due to knee injury recovery

Jordan Love will not be playing for the Green Bay Packers in their upcoming home game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a knee injury he sustained in the season opener. Love, who took over as the starting quarterback last year, has been inactive all week after injuring his left medial collateral ligament against the Philadelphia Eagles. In his place, Malik Willis, who was acquired in a recent trade with the Tennessee Titans, will start for the Packers. Willis, a 2022 third-round pick from Liberty, has limited starting experience with the Titans.

Backing up Willis will be Sean Clifford, who was activated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game. The Colts will be facing Willis without safety Julian Blackmon and cornerback JuJu Brents due to injuries. Additionally, wide receiver Josh Downs will be unavailable for the Colts due to an ankle injury. However, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner will be available for the game, despite being listed as questionable with a back issue.

On the Packers’ side, wide receiver Jayden Reed and rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd have been confirmed as available for the game, despite being listed as questionable. Reed had an impressive performance against the Eagles, scoring multiple touchdowns and making significant contributions to the game. Lloyd, a rookie third-round pick from Southern California, will be making his NFL debut after missing the previous game due to a hamstring injury.

Among the inactive players for the Packers are safety Kitan Oladapo, defensive lineman Brenton Cox Jr., offensive tackles Andre Dillard and Travis Glover, and defensive lineman Colby Wooden. The Colts have listed Blackmon, Downs, defensive end Genard Avery, guard Tanor Bortolini, quarterback Sam Ehlinger, offensive tackle Blake Freeland, and tight end Will Mallory as inactive for the game.
