Lil Wayne upset over Super Bowl halftime snub, feeling broken

Lil Wayne recently shared his disappointment after not being chosen as the headline performer for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans. In an Instagram video, the rap icon expressed his feelings of being “broke” by the decision to have Los Angeles-based rapper Kendrick Lamar as the headliner instead of him. He mentioned that he is trying to gather himself together after feeling overlooked.
Throughout the years, Wayne has been vocal about his aspiration to perform during the halftime show of the NFL’s championship game, which is scheduled to take place at the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9. This will mark Lamar’s second halftime show performance after his appearance in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Eminem.
In the video, Wayne appeared introspective, admitting that it was difficult for him to express his emotions without falling apart. The five-time Grammy winner has a repertoire of popular songs like “Lollipop,” “Mr. Carter,” “Go DJ,” and “A Milli,” and is credited with helping launch the careers of artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga.
Despite his disappointment, Wayne took a moment to thank his supporters, including Minaj and Birdman, for standing by him during this challenging time. He acknowledged feeling like he had let his fans down by not securing the opportunity to perform at the prestigious event, but was grateful for the encouragement and support he received from them.
