Teen in Florida is Accused of Murdering His Mother; Previously Charged in Father’s Death in Oklahoma

A teenager in Florida facing charges for allegedly stabbing his mother to death had previously been involved in a deadly shooting incident with his father in Oklahoma. The sheriff in Polk County, Florida described the murder of the teen’s mother as a cold-blooded act that occurred at his grandmother’s home in Auburndale. The teenager had previously faced charges in the death of his father in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, which were dropped due to a claim of self-defense that lacked contradicting evidence.

Despite the dismissal of charges in Oklahoma, the teenager has a history of violence. After moving to Charlotte County, Florida to live with his mother, he reportedly attacked her multiple times, including a domestic violence incident where he stomped on her. He was briefly held for mental health services, during which he threatened to harm either himself or his mother. On the day of the incident, he called 911 claiming his mother had been stabbed during a fight at his grandmother’s home.

Upon the arrival of deputies, the teenager appeared calm and collected, with blood on him. Inside the house, the woman was found with a knife wound, and the grandmother was absent during the incident. Neighbors reported seeing the mother and son arguing before the altercation took place. The medical examiner’s findings did not align with the teen’s account of events, suggesting foul play.

The teenager is currently detained in a juvenile facility on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and violation of a no-contact order. The sheriff is pushing for him to be charged as an adult due to the severity of the crimes. Questions have been raised about authorities in Oklahoma dropping charges related to the father’s death. Investigators have noted discrepancies between the teen’s explanation of events and the evidence collected.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the father’s death to come forward. Despite facing serious allegations, the teenager remains detached and emotionless according to the sheriff involved in the case. The attorney for the teen in the Oklahoma case has not responded to inquiries regarding the situation.
