Lawyer of Cleveland Browns’ quarterback, Deshaun Watson, rejects sexual assault allegations; he will still play in Sunday’s game.

Deshaun Watson’s lawyer released a statement on Wednesday denying the sexual assault allegations made by a woman in Texas, who claimed the incident occurred four years ago when Watson was playing for the Houston Texans. The woman filed a civil lawsuit seeking over $1 million in damages. The NFL is investigating whether Watson violated the league’s personal conduct policy in light of these accusations. This comes after Watson had previously faced similar allegations from two dozen women during his time with the Texans.

In the statement issued by attorney Rusty Hardin, Watson vehemently denies the claims made in the lawsuit and has been advised not to comment further on the matter as it unfolds in court. Hardin expressed confidence that Watson would be vindicated but emphasized that their defense would be handled in court rather than in the media. It was also stressed that Watson will be focusing on football as the legal process progresses.

Despite the ongoing situation, Watson is set to address reporters before practice and is expected to play in the upcoming game against Jacksonville according to Browns coach Kevin Stefanski. Despite a lackluster performance in the season opener following his recovery from shoulder surgery, Stefanski confirmed that Watson will continue as the team’s starting quarterback. Since joining the Browns on a lucrative contract in 2022, Watson has started only 13 games after the team acquired him from the Texans by trading three first-round draft picks.

The NFL continues to monitor the situation as the legal proceedings unfold for Deshaun Watson, who faces serious allegations amidst his professional football career.
