Fashion designer Michael Kors took a different approach for his spring/summer 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week after facing weather challenges at his previous show. This time, Kors decided to bring nature inside by creating a unique runway set in a raw space in a midtown building. The runway featured stark metal benches and faux black rocks reminiscent of the rocky beaches of the Amalfi Coast, drawing inspiration from Italian cliffs in an urban setting.

Kors, known for being in tune with pop culture, found inspiration in the recent Netflix series “Ripley,” based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” The dark and moody storyline set in coastal Italy influenced Kors to explore a dark side of romance and mystery in his collection while celebrating his 35th anniversary of collaborating with Italian artisans.

The show showcased a mix of black and white and muted colors with textures like black raffia and white embroideries, reflecting the Mediterranean aesthetic. The brand’s craftsmanship shone through intricate lace dresses, flower appliques on garments, and accessories like leather handbags and hats featuring black raffia details.

At the show, which attracted celebrities like Kerry Washington and Mary J. Blige, Lisa Rinna expressed her excitement watching her daughter walk the runway but noted the importance of letting her daughter have her moment. Olivia Wilde praised Kors for his understated love for women in his designs, while Suki Waterhouse highlighted her favorite pieces from the collection, including straw shoes and matching bags.

The spring/summer 2025 collection by Michael Kors at New York Fashion Week showcased a blend of Italian-inspired elements, textures, and craftsmanship, resonating with attendees and celebrities alike.
