A recent report by Informa Connect Academy suggests that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027, followed closely by Indian tycoon Gautam Adani in 2028. Musk, currently the world’s wealthiest person with a net worth of $237 billion, would need his fortune to grow at an average annual rate of 110% to reach trillionaire status.
? Gautam Adani, currently ranked 13th on the world billionaire index with a net worth of nearly $100 billion, could be the second individual to reach a trillion-dollar valuation if his ports-to-power conglomerate continues its growth at an average annual rate of 123%.
? Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, with a net worth of $111 billion, is projected to become a trillionaire by 2033. His company, Reliance Industries Ltd, could achieve a trillion-dollar market cap by 2035, making it the only Indian company forecasted to reach this milestone.
Trillion-Dollar Market Cap Companies
Several companies are also poised to join the trillion-dollar club in the coming years. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), with a current market cap of $893.7 billion, is expected to reach this valuation by 2025. Other companies likely to follow include Berkshire Hathaway, Eli Lilly, Broadcom, and Tesla.
Currently, only a few companies, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Saudi Aramco, and Meta, have crossed the trillion-dollar mark. Nvidia notably joined the club in May 2023 and reached a $3 trillion valuation in June, positioning itself as the second most valuable company globally, behind Microsoft and ahead of Apple.
Future Trillionaires
Aside from Musk and Adani, other potential future trillionaires highlighted in the report include Jensen Huang, founder of Nvidia; Indonesian businessman Prajogo Pangestu; French luxury goods mogul Bernard Arnault; and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
As of now, no individual has claimed the title of trillionaire, but with the continued growth of these billionaires’ enterprises, the first could emerge in just a few years.
