Morgan Wallen is leading the pack in the 2024 Country Music Association award nominations with a total of seven nods. This marks the third consecutive year that Wallen is nominated in both the entertainer of the year and male vocalist categories. Joining Wallen in the entertainer of the year categories are Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.
Wallen’s collaboration with Post Malone on the radio hit “I Had Some Help” has significantly contributed to his nominations this year. The song is up for single, song, musical event, and music video of the year. Wallen also secured another nomination in the musical event category for his work with Eric Church on “Man Made a Bar.”
The nominations for single of the year go to the artist, producer, and mix engineers, while the song of the year award is given to the songwriters. Despite speculation among fans, Beyoncé did not receive a nomination for her country-influenced album “Cowboy Carter,” which topped the Billboard country albums chart earlier this year.
The 2024 CMA Awards nominations are determined and voted on by members of the Country Music Association, including music executives, artists, publicists, songwriters, and other industry professionals. Following Wallen in nominations are Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton, both with five nods each. Stapleton, a seven-time male vocalist of the year winner, has the potential to win seven trophies if he sweeps his categories.
Other notable nominees include Post Malone and Lainey Wilson, tied with four nominations each. Post Malone’s nominations are all for his collaboration with Wallen on “I Had Some Help.” Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome, and Hoskins received three nominations for their contribution as producers and co-writers on the same song.
The 2024 CMA Awards ceremony is set to air on Nov. 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The event will also be available for streaming on Hulu the following day for those who miss the live broadcast.
