Emmy nominees “Shogun” and “The Bear” are among the shows expected to make a strong start at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, celebrating artistic and technical excellence in television. The two-night ceremonies, which take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, will precede the main Emmys ceremony hosted by Dan and Eugene Levy on September 15 at 8 p.m. EST airing on ABC.
The Creative Arts ceremonies will feature presenters including Oscar-winners and current Emmy nominees Jamie Lee Curtis and Brie Larson, as well as notable names like Ryan Gosling and Angela Bassett. These awards, while often not attended by big-name stars, offer recognition to behind-the-scenes professionals such as hairdressers, stunt performers, sound mixers, and casting directors.
During the Saturday night ceremony, the focus will be on reality, variety, and talk shows, with “Saturday Night Live” leading the nominations with a dozen nods. Game show hosts like Pat Sajak, Ken Jennings, Steve Harvey, and Keke Palmer will also be vying for awards in this category.
On Sunday, the spotlight will shift to scripted comedies and dramas, with “Shogun” and “The Bear” leading the nominations. “Shogun” has 25 nominations, with 17 craft categories up for consideration, while “The Bear” has 23 nominations, particularly excelling in comedy categories.
Among the nominees and presenters are familiar faces like Barack Obama, Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, Paul Rudd, and Octavia Spencer. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will honor a wide range of television professionals before the main event on ABC.
