Harris’ campaign reports raising $361 million in August from close to 3 million donors

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign reported a fundraising total of $361 million from nearly 3 million donors in August, surpassing the $130 million raised by former President Donald Trump’s campaign during the same period. Harris’ team ended the month with $404 million on hand for the remaining stretch until Election Day, a significant lead over Trump’s reported total. This substantial amount will be allocated towards a $370 million paid media effort and supporting over 2,000 field staff across more than 310 locations in battleground states.

Harris’ fundraising success in August followed her previous achievement of raising $310 million in July, primarily after taking over President Joe Biden’s campaign when he withdrew from the race that month. This strategic move has enabled the Democratic party to recover from the fundraising advantage Trump had built up in the earlier months, attributed to concerns about Biden’s candidacy affecting donor and voter enthusiasm.

Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez emphasized the broad and diverse coalition galvanized by Vice President Harris’ candidacy, highlighting the campaign’s energy, enthusiasm, and determination to secure victory in the upcoming election. As the campaign heads into the final phase before Election Day, the funds raised are dedicated to appealing to crucial voters who will play a pivotal role in deciding the election outcome.

The fundraising figures disclosed by both campaigns exclude full Federal Elections Commission filings, which are expected to be submitted later in the month. It is important to note that the totals provided by both campaigns encompass fundraising efforts by their respective national parties and affiliated committees.
