Michigan couple faces charges following incident where wedding party member is hit and fatally injured by SUV

In Flint, Michigan, a tragic incident occurred involving a newlywed couple charged in the death of a groomsman who was struck by a vehicle on their wedding day. The groom, James Shirah, was driving the SUV that hit Terry Taylor Jr. on August 30, as reported by authorities.
According to the police, after the wedding, an argument ensued that led to Taylor being intentionally struck by the speeding SUV. James Shirah, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder. The Genesee County public defender’s office mentioned that an attorney had not yet been assigned to the case.
Terry Taylor, 29, was described as a groomsman by the police. The county prosecutor, David Leyton, who has been in his position for 20 years, expressed astonishment at the situation. He stated that while he has encountered cases of people being run over, he had never encountered a situation like this involving a wedding.
According to Leyton, the wedding took place at a pizzeria, and the argument that led to the tragic incident occurred at a nearby house where the celebration continued. The groomsman, Terry Taylor, was in the street in front of the house when he was struck by the SUV.
Leyton also mentioned that the bride and groom left the scene and did not report the incident to the police until the following day, which complicated the investigation. James Shirah remains in jail without bond, while his 21-year-old wife has been charged as an accessory but posted bond on Wednesday.
