In a tragic incident at Apalachee High School in the small town of Winder, four lives were lost—two students and two teachers—when a 14-year-old student opened fire, unleashing a hail of bullets. The shooter, identified as Colt Gray, was also a student at the school. In addition to the fatalities, nine others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The horrific event has drawn condemnation from leaders across the nation, including Vice President Kamala Harris, who denounced the mass shooting during a campaign appearance. As the country mourns yet another senseless tragedy, the statistics remain grim: 527 people have already lost their lives in mass shootings—defined as incidents with at least four victims—this year alone.
