The Washington Commanders announced on Wednesday that they have suspended an employee following an internal investigation sparked by derogatory comments made in an undercover video shared on social media. In the video posted by O’Keefe Media Group, the team’s Vice President of content, Rael Enteen, was heard making disparaging remarks about players and fans. He referred to some players as unintelligent and homophobic, labeling fans as “high school-educated alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.”
A spokesperson for the team stated that the language used in the video conflicts with the organization’s values and mentioned that further comments will be withheld at this time. The videos, captured in June in Washington, were disclosed by James O’Keefe, the founder of the media group. O’Keefe informed The Associated Press that the footage was recorded during two separate occasions and involved interactions between Enteen and a woman he met on a dating app.
In addition to the derogatory remarks about players and fans, Enteen was also heard in the video criticizing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, referring to him as “a $50 million puppet” and expressing skepticism towards the league’s social justice initiatives. A request for comments from a league representative regarding the video has not been responded to at the moment.
