Three individuals were missing following a boating accident in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, where a boat they were on collided with a jetty on Monday. The North Madison Volunteer Fire Company declared the incident a mass casualty incident as emergency services were overwhelmed due to the severity of the casualties. Reports indicated that there were between eight to nine individuals on the boat when the accident occurred.
The Guilford dive team, along with personnel, boats, and ambulances from nearby towns, were present at the scene to assist in the search and rescue operation. Additionally, the Coast Guard and LifeStar, an air ambulance service, dispatched helicopters to aid in the search efforts. Old Saybrook, where the incident took place, is located approximately 30 miles east of New Haven.
