Francisco Lindor provided the offensive spark for the Mets by launching his 29th home run of the season in the fourth inning, off White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet. The Mets added to their lead in the ninth inning when Starling Marte drove in a run with an RBI double. The victory marked the Mets’ fourth consecutive win and ninth in 13 games, as they continue to chase the final NL wild card spot, trailing the Atlanta Braves by two games.
Manaea, who improved his record to 11-5, dominated on the mound, striking out five batters while allowing only two hits and two walks. The left-hander has been in excellent form, winning three of his last four starts. Chicago struggled to generate offense throughout the game, with their first hit coming in the fifth inning.
Despite the loss, White Sox pitcher Crochet had a notable performance, tying a club record by striking out the first seven batters he faced and finishing the game with eight strikeouts in total.
