Two people onboard small plane crashing into townhomes near Portland, causing house to catch fire

0

A town in the vicinity of Portland, Oregon, was struck by a small airplane that crashed into a set of townhouses on a Saturday morning, igniting a significant fire. Gresham Fire Chief Scott Lewis reported that the aircraft carried at least two individuals, while one person inside the townhomes remained unaccounted for. Fortunately, there have been no confirmed fatalities resulting from the incident. Images and footage from the scene depict one of the townhouses engulfed in flames with a dense cloud of black smoke rising into the sky.
The Federal Aviation Administration has identified the crashed aircraft as a twin-engine Cessna 421C, stating that the crash occurred close to Troutdale Airport at approximately 10:30 a.m., which is situated about a half-hour drive to the east of Portland. Witnessed by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, as the plane descended, it toppled a pole and power lines, sparking a separate but brief fire in an adjacent field. The plane disintegrated into multiple fragments upon impact in the residential neighborhood of Fairview.
Troutdale Airport, as described on the Port of Portland’s website, is noted as a facility primarily catering to flight training and recreational aviation activities.
