Authorities in Pueblo, Colorado are contemplating pressing criminal charges against an individual suspected of assaulting a woman at a concert at the Colorado State Fair. The incident occurred during a performance by country music artist Scotty McCreery, prompting him to stop the show abruptly and address the alleged attacker from the stage.
In video footage from the concert, McCreery can be seen pointing into the crowd and halting the music, exclaiming, “That’s a lady you just hit sir. Absolutely not. Who just hit the lady?” Concerned for the woman’s well-being, McCreery called for police and security and inquired about her condition, while the audience reacted with boos and chants.
The 30-year-old singer, known for his time on American Idol, urged the crowd to assist authorities in identifying the perpetrator. He condemned the act as cowardly and insisted that the alleged assailant leave the premises before resuming the performance.
Emergency medical personnel assessed the woman on-site, but she opted against being transported to a hospital, according to Olga Robak of the Colorado Agriculture Department. Although potential criminal charges were brought to the attention of prosecutors, the man in question was not immediately taken into custody, Robak reported. The Pueblo County District Attorney’s Office did not provide immediate comments regarding the incident.
