In Thailand, Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, a member of a renowned Spanish acting family, has been found guilty of premeditated murder and has been sentenced to life in prison. The case involved the victim being dismembered. Initially, a death sentence was issued, but it was later commuted to life imprisonment due to Sancho’s cooperation during the trial, as shared by Police Col. Paisan Sangthep, deputy commander of the Surat Thani Provincial Police, who was present at the hearing.
The incident occurred when both Sancho, a 30-year-old chef with a YouTube channel, and Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, a 44-year-old plastic surgeon from Colombia, were vacationing on the Thai island of Koh Pha-ngan in August of the previous year. Sancho, the son of Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre, a prominent Spanish actor, and Silvia Bronchalo, who is also in the acting industry, was indicted for the murder.
During the trial in Samui, Sancho claimed that a confrontation ensued between him and Arrieta, alleging that Arrieta attempted to sexually assault him. Sancho stated that during the scuffle, Arrieta fell and hit his head on a bathtub, leading to his unconsciousness and subsequent death. Sancho admitted to dismembering the victim’s body and disposing of the remains on land and at sea.
