Keegan Bradley advances from last-minute entry to BMW Championship victor and progresses to East Lake

Keegan Bradley, from a last-minute addition to the BMW Championship lineup, emerged as the victor on Sunday by finishing with an even-par 72 for a one-shot win. This unexpected victory, his seventh on the PGA Tour, was made possible by pulling ahead of Adam Scott on the back nine and delivering a crucial shot on the par-5 17th hole.
Bradley’s triumph at Castle Pines comes after a tense week where he scrambled to secure the 50th spot in the FedEx Cup. The win not only marked a significant career milestone but also propelled him from 50th to 4th place in the FedEx Cup standings, earning him a spot in the Tour Championship where he will start four shots behind Scottie Scheffler.
In addition to his FedEx Cup success, Bradley’s victory boosted his position in the Presidents Cup standings, making him a strong contender for the upcoming event. The chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!” reverberated as Bradley navigated the back nine, with spectators cheering him on at Castle Pines.
While Scott managed to secure a top-30 finish, Sam Burns clinched second place alongside Scott and Ludvig Aberg of Sweden, who faltered in the final round. Despite facing challenges, Bradley’s strategic play on the 17th hole solidified his win, earning him $4 million in prize money.
The tournament’s conclusion saw Tommy Fleetwood and Chris Kirk also qualify for the Tour Championship, displacing players like Harman, Day, Thompson, and McCarthy from the top 30 rankings. Bradley’s remarkable turnaround from a precarious position in the FedEx Cup to a triumphant victory underscores the unpredictability and excitement of professional golf.
