Ex-NFL player alleged to have urinated on traveler during Boston to Dublin flight

A former NFL player, Gosder Cherilus, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by the Massachusetts State Police. Cherilus, known for playing for teams such as the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was taken into custody after an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Boston to Dublin, where he allegedly hit one passenger and urinated on another.
According to authorities, the 40-year-old Cherilus, who resides in Wakefield, exhibited drunken behavior from the moment he boarded the flight. He reportedly got into disputes with the flight crew over seating arrangements, subsequently urinated on an elderly passenger, physically assaulted another traveler, and then switched seats before passing out.
Cherilus appeared in court on Monday at the East Boston District Court, where Judge Debra A. DelVecchio criticized his alleged actions as “egregious.” In a social media post, Cherilus apologized to both the passengers and the flight crew, attributing his behavior to the effects of a sleeping medication he was not accustomed to taking.
Following the incident, Delta Airlines confirmed the presence of an “unruly customer” on the flight. The airline ensured that the remaining passengers were accommodated on a later flight to Dublin. Delta expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the delay but affirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards unlawful conduct, pledging full cooperation with law enforcement authorities.
