Directors Guild of America to Pay Tribute to Francis Ford Coppola in October

The Directors Guild of America is gearing up to celebrate its 25th DGA Honors event in October, where they plan to honor acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 17 at the DGA Theater in New York City. This marks the first DGA Honors event since 2018.

Francis Ford Coppola, aged 85, is a legendary filmmaker who has previously received five nominations from the DGA, winning the award for outstanding directorial achievement twice for his work on “The Godfather” in 1972 and its sequel in 1974. Coppola’s latest project, “Megalopolis,” is set to hit theaters on September 27 after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May to a mixed reception. The film will have its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In addition to honoring Francis Ford Coppola, the DGA will also pay tribute to Susan Zirinsky, a former CBS News executive, as well as the siblings Tony and Gina Argento from Broadway Stages, and the arthouse film company Criterion. Lesli Linka Glatter, the president of the DGA, expressed pride in celebrating the honorees at the 25th DGA Honors event, recognizing their significant impact on American culture through their innovative contributions to the world of film and television.
