College football season is getting closer, with some key matchups to look forward to. Next Saturday, No. 10 Florida State will face Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland. Florida State, led by Patrick Payton and Darius Washington, is aiming to defend their Atlantic Coast Conference title. Other games on Saturday include Norfolk State versus Florida A&M and SMU facing Nevada.
On August 31, top-ranked Georgia will play against No. 14 Clemson in Atlanta, while No. 8 Penn State takes on West Virginia and No. 19 Miami faces Florida. Notre Dame and Texas A&M will also clash.
Exciting games fill the schedule, such as No. 1 Georgia playing against No. 4 Texas in October, and No. 2 Ohio State meeting No. 3 Oregon in a match in October, and later against Penn State and Michigan. Mississippi versus LSU and Notre Dame versus Florida State are also highly anticipated games.
The College Football Playoff format has expanded to 12 teams this season. The top four seeds and first-round byes are reserved for conference champions. A series of games will determine the finalists playing at marquee bowl games on December 31 and January 1, with the championship game set for January 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Speculation for the Heisman Trophy race has already begun, with quarterbacks like Jalen Milroe, Quinn Ewers, Jaxson Dart, Carson Beck, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders among the top contenders.
