Donald Trump is facing a significant challenge: All but one of the crucial swing states that will decide the upcoming presidential election have shifted in favor of Kamala Harris over the past two weeks, with only Georgia remaining tied.
Back in late May, amid growing concerns about Joe Biden’s age, Trump held a clear lead in the seven key swing states that will determine the outcome of the election in just 80 days.
At that time, Trump had a substantial lead in Nevada (by 9%), North Carolina (by 7%), and Pennsylvania (by 3%).
Now, the advantage seems to have evaporated, as Kamala Harris has flipped five of the seven swing states in her favor.
State by state, the numbers spell frustration for the Trump campaign:
- In Arizona, where Trump led by 1% in May, Harris is now ahead by 2%—48% to 46%.
- In Michigan, where Trump led by 2%, the turnaround is even more striking: Harris now leads by 3%—49% to 46%.
- In North Carolina, where Trump once held an impressive 7% lead, Harris has now edged ahead by 1%—48% to 47%.
- In Wisconsin, where Trump had a 1% lead in May, Harris now holds a 49% to 46% advantage, thanks in part to Governor Tony Evers.
- In the potentially decisive state of Pennsylvania, where Trump was comfortably ahead by 3% in May, Harris has taken the lead by 1%—49% to 48%.
- Georgia remains tied at 48% to 48%, with Trump losing his earlier 3% advantage.
- Only in Nevada does Trump maintain a lead, albeit a narrowing one at 3% (48% to 45%). This is a significant drop from his 9% lead in May.
Trump’s campaign is now grappling with a rapidly changing electoral landscape as the election nears.
