Christian Yelich of Brewers to undergo back surgery, ending season

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is set to undergo season-ending back surgery, as confirmed in a statement released by the team on Thursday. Yelich expressed that he made the decision after careful consideration and discussions with medical professionals. The surgery, performed by Dr. Brandon Rebholz, is scheduled for Friday in Milwaukee.
Yelich, aged 32, has been sidelined since a game on July 23. Despite facing a back problem that led to two stints on the injured list, the 2018 NL MVP managed to secure his third All-Star Game selection this season. In 73 games, Yelich achieved a .315 batting average with a .406 on-base percentage, along with 11 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases.
The talented player’s resilience throughout the season, despite battling with the lingering back issue, showcased his determination and skill on the field. Yelich’s absence will undoubtedly be felt by the Brewers as they continue their season without one of their key players in the lineup.
