Post Malone’s Country Music Journey, Tinashe’s Comeback, and MTV’s Competition Show ‘The Challenge’

Was Post Malone’s shift into country music destined? On Friday, August 16, Malone is set to release his country album, “F-1 Trillion.” Unlike many pop artists dabbling in country, Malone is fully immersing himself in Nashville’s music scene, collaborating with stars like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Blake Shelton, rather than staying on the fringes of the genre. This approach is paying off—his upcoming album is one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, both within and outside the country music community. His single “I Had Some Help” has already become one of the year’s biggest hits, showing no signs of slowing down.

It’s the lyric that’s resonated across the internet: “Is anyone going to match my freak?” R&B-pop innovator Tinashe is back, with her seductive single “Nasty” going viral. The track is part of her upcoming album, “Quantum Baby,” which promises more infectious hooks that are sure to inspire new TikTok dance trends.

Twice Grammy-nominated Lupita Infante—celebrated for her mariachi, norteño, and ranchera music—will release a five-track covers EP titled “Puras De Mi Abuelo Vol 1” on Friday, August 16. The first of a two-part series, this EP is a tribute to her grandfather, the legendary Mexican ranchera singer Pedro Infante. Get your tissues ready.

Hulu introduces a gripping new Korean drama, “The Tyrant.” The show, debuting Wednesday, centers on rogue government scientists who create a deadly virus in a bid to elevate South Korea’s global power status. The four-part series promises intense drama and political intrigue.

MTV’s iconic competition show “The Challenge” returns for its 40th season, “The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras,” premiering Wednesday. This season features 40 contestants from the show’s history, including fan favorites Johnny Bananas and Chris “CT” Tamburello. Episodes will air on MTV and stream on Paramount+.

And yes, Emily is still in Paris! The first part of the fourth season of the Lily Collins-led romantic workplace comedy drops Thursday on Netflix. This season, rumor has it Emily also takes a trip to Rome.

The Fresh Prince is on summer break in “Bel-Air” season three. Peacock’s more dramatic reimagining of the classic series returns on Thursday, August 15, with Jabari Banks portraying the teen from West Philly. Banks, like the original Fresh Prince, Will Smith, hails from West Philadelphia and is also a musician, currently working on his own EP.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars” kicks off Friday, August 16 on Paramount+, featuring 12 fan-favorite contestants from around the world. The winner takes home $200,000 and a coveted spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

Eric Goode, known for directing Netflix’s “Tiger King,” is back with a new docuseries titled “Chimp Crazy.” Premiering Sunday, August 18 on HBO and streaming on Max, the series explores the private ownership of chimpanzees, centering on exotic animal broker Tonia Haddix, who calls herself “The Dolly Parton of Chimps” and raises them as her own children.

James Cameron returns to the deep with “OceanXplorers,” a six-part National Geographic series premiering Sunday, August 18. In collaboration with BBC Studios and OceanX, Cameron explores remote parts of the ocean aboard the 285-foot research vessel OceanXplorer. The docuseries will also be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu the day after its National Geographic premiere.
