The iconic Roland Garros stadium in Paris, known for hosting tennis events, is currently the venue for Olympic boxing. Among the spectators, Nacer Zorgani, a vision-impaired announcer, captured the crowd’s attention with his powerful voice. Despite his visual impairment, Zorgani’s announcing skills mesmerized the audience as he introduced the boxers during the matches.

By day, Zorgani is a dedicated Para-judo athlete, training rigorously for the upcoming Paralympic Games. At night, he fulfills his dream of being the voice of Olympic boxing, a role inspired by legendary announcers he admired during a boxing match in 2017. His participation in the Paris Olympics serves as a testament to his determination and highlights the importance of inclusivity for individuals with disabilities at major events.

Accompanied by volunteer guide Laureline Jeunemaitre, Zorgani navigates the boxing venue, relying on her assistance to provide him with vital information and support. Despite his visual challenges, Zorgani prepares for his announcing role by warming up his voice and embracing his vocal talent as a gift from God.

Diagnosed as legally blind at 17, Zorgani’s gradual loss of vision did not deter him from pursuing his passion. With Jeunemaitre’s help, Zorgani overcomes obstacles, ensuring he delivers flawless announcements throughout the event. His remarkable ability to memorize content and engage with the audience showcases his resilience and determination to excel in his role as an announcer.

Zorgani’s journey has inspired many, including his friend Redouane Bougheraba, a renowned comedian. Despite facing daily challenges due to his vision impairment, Zorgani remains committed to his training and preparation for the Paralympic Games. He views his experiences at the Olympic boxing events as mental training that will fortify him for the upcoming athletic challenge.
